Product Overview
ZAN Projectiles offer a wide range of slug weights in .22 calibre, ranging from 20 grain up to and including 40 grain in various diameter sizes such as .217, .218 and .219.
This ensures a comprehensive coverage across multiple different barrel manufactures that support different internal geometry and sizing. Zan projectiles aims to give plenty of choice and options depending on your particular rifle set up, rifle power levels and rifle capability.
20 grain swaged slugs
The slugs in this weight category are fully intended for low power air rifles and for sub 12ftlb airguns. Benefit from less wind deflection due to higher Ballistic Coefficient and better terminal performance due to the unique hollow point design.
- Diameter: .217″ or 5.51mm
- Length: .260″ / 6.6mm
- BC 0.07
Some liners does not like .218 so we made those in size .217 which perform great for those not liking .218
23 & 25.5 grain swaged slugs
Projectiles in this weight category are designed and intended to suit either lower power rifle setups or closer range shooting where long range is not the objective. Projectiles in this weight category are ideally best suited where rifle power levels are limited or shorter shooting ranges are desired.
Still with a Ballistic Coefficient, (BC) that approaches almost double that of most air rifle pellets, it makes for a better choice due to their superior external ballistics and terminal performance over pellets.
These projectiles have been manufactured and tested to perform between a velocity range of 600fps – 1000fps and with a ballistic coefficient of between 0.070 – 0.090 (Subject to chosen slug, velocity and environmental conditions) they make for a great lower power, closer range hunting projectile on smaller quarry where maximum penetration is not required, but maximum rapid expansion and even fragmentation is.
23 grain
- Diameter: .217″ or 5.51mm
- Length: 7mm
- BC 0.075
25.5 grain
- Diameter: .217″ or 5.51mm
- Length: 8mm
- BC 0.082
28, 30.5 & 33 grain swaged slugs
The slugs in this weight range are suited more too a medium – higher power rifles where the user really wants to start reaching out there! Starting to benefit from really good ballistics, this weight category makes for a great choice for long range target shooters and hunters. Ideally suited to medium – long range shooting, these slugs have been designed to have a slightly less explosive expansion upon impact but to have a slightly slower and controlled expansion upon impact, best suited to smaller and medium sized quarry. This provides a slight deeper penetration with a slight slower controlled expansion, essentially maximising both penetration and expansion at the same time.
These projectiles have been manufactured and tested to perform between 800 fps – 1050fps and with a ballistic coefficient of between 0.102 – 0.128 (Subject to chosen slug, velocity and environmental conditions) they make for a great long range hunting and target projectile.
28 grain
- Diameter: .217″ or 5.51mm
- Length: 8,65mm
- BC 0.090
30.5 grain
- Diameter: .217″ or 5.51mm
- Length: 9.2mm
- BC 0.110- 0.125 (900-1000 fps)
33 grain
- Diameter: .217″ or 5.51mm
- Length: 9.8mm
- BC 0.115- 0.130 (990-1000 fps)
- Those slugs tend to work very well in all barrels, even in standard pallet liners.
36 & 40 grain swaged slugs
If you want the ultimate in long range performance then look no further than the slugs in this weight category!
Designed and built for higher power airguns with superior ballistics in mind, these slugs have unmatched ballistic performance. Whether you are a serious competition shooter or a long range hunter these are the slugs for you!
Having a larger Cross sectional density result in these slugs also having a very high Ballistic coefficient which help reduce aerodynamic drag and minimise wind deflection, this also helps maximise terminal performance for hunting purposes down range.
These slugs have been designed for high power air rifles at velocities between 850 -1000fps and with a Ballistic coefficient ranging between 0.130 – 0.140 (Subject to chosen slug, velocity and environmental conditions) these are the ultimate in long range performance. Due to their construction and design these slugs have a slightly lower expansion rate but do provide better and deeper penetration on larger quarry, very well suited to larger quarry species where slightly slower controlled expansion but deeper penetration is required.
36 grain
- Diameter: .217″ or 5.51mm
- Length: 0.40″ / 10,0mm
- BC 0.115
40 grain
- Diameter: .217″ or 5.51mm
- Length: 11.2 mm
- They do fit in fx magazine, but if more than 10 filled, magazine may stop to make turns due to spring.
